About the Journal

Revista Gestão Organizacional (RGO) is an open-access scientific journal affiliated with the Graduate Program in Accounting and Administration at the Community University of the Region of Chapecó (Unochapecó), edited in partnership with the Graduate Program in Administration at the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC/ESAG).

RGO aims to disseminate original, high-quality scientific knowledge in the fields of Administration, Accounting, and Organizational Studies, fostering dialogue among different theoretical and methodological approaches and contributing to the advancement of academic research and professional practice in both national and international contexts.

Publication Frequency and Model

RGO is published on a four-monthly basis and has adopted the continuous publication model since 2021, with articles organized into four-monthly volumes and issues. This model aims to ensure faster dissemination of scientific knowledge and alignment with international editorial best practices.

Focus and Scope

RGO publishes original research articles, theoretical essays, and teaching cases (RGO does not publish bibliometric studies) that provide relevant theoretical, methodological, or empirical contributions to the following fields:

Organizational Studies: organizational theory; organizational thought; historical, ethical, and epistemological foundations of organizations.

Public and Business Administration: strategy; finance; governance; human resource management; public management; public policies; logistics; marketing; operations and production.

Accounting: auditing; compliance; financial and managerial accounting; accounting information systems; integrated reporting; taxation.

Organizations, Management, and Society: sustainability; sustainable development; environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects.

Teaching and Research in Administration and Accounting: pedagogical innovation; teaching and learning methods; teaching cases.

Mission

To promote the dissemination of scientific knowledge in the areas of management, organizations, and accounting, contributing to the advancement of research, academic education, and professional practice at national and international levels.

Target Audience

Researchers, faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students, public policy makers, and professionals working in the fields of Administration, Accounting, and Organizational Studies.

Scope of Application of Studies

Published studies may address, among others, the following contexts:

  • public organizations;

  • private organizations;

  • third-sector and associative organizations;

  • hybrid organizational arrangements;

  • interfaces among the state, market, and society.

Peer Review Process

RGO adopts a double-blind peer review system. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening (desk review), in which the Editor assesses adherence to the journal’s scope, author guidelines, template, and ethical standards. Manuscripts approved at this stage are forwarded to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the subject matter.

Evaluation criteria include, but are not limited to:

  • scientific relevance and topicality;

  • clarity and coherence of objectives;

  • theoretical and conceptual consistency;

  • methodological adequacy and rigor;

  • quality of analysis and discussion of results;

  • originality and contribution to the literature;

  • clarity, accuracy, and organization of the text.

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, manuscripts may be:
(a) accepted;
(b) revisions required;
(c) resubmitted for further evaluation; or
(d) rejected.
Review reports are forwarded to authors anonymously.

Editorial Process and Publication

After acceptance, manuscripts undergo the following editorial stages:

  • copyediting;

  • proofreading;

  • translation;

  • publication.

All stages of the editorial process are conducted transparently and communicated to authors.

From the second issue of 2025 onward, RGO explicitly identifies, in each published article, the editor responsible for the peer review process, in line with best practices in editorial transparency.

From 2026 onward, RGO publishes articles in Portuguese and English. Authors of accepted manuscripts must provide the article version in the second language within the deadlines established in the editorial process. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in withdrawal of the manuscript’s acceptance.

Publication Ethics

RGO follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and adopts recognized standards of ethics in scientific publishing.

The journal is guided by the following principles:

  • Editorial independence: editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit;

  • Transparency and integrity throughout all stages of the editorial process;

  • Ethical responsibility of editors, authors, and reviewers;

  • Mechanisms for correction, retraction, or expression of concern, when necessary.

Best Practices and Scientific Integrity

Authorship and Contributions

Authorship must reflect substantive intellectual contribution. All authors must be aware of and agree with the manuscript submission.

Conflict of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest of a personal, professional, or financial nature.

Scientific Misconduct

Practices such as data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation are strictly prohibited.


Open Access Policy

RGO is an Open Access journal, providing immediate, free, and unrestricted access to its content, with no submission or publication fees. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, which permits use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.
