Abstract

This article analyzes the complex dynamics of migration, addressing the social representations of these flows and their impacts on the life trajectories of individuals. Based on a dialogue between bibliographic review and case studies, the phenomenon of migration is examined from its motivations, such as political and economic crises, to the challenges of integration in the host country. The discussion highlights how media discourses shape social perceptions of migrants, often oscillating between humanitarianism and xenophobia. It explores the subjective dimension of the migratory experience, marked by processes of declassification, the re-signification of identity, and feelings of nostalgia and non-belonging. Furthermore, the article investigates the challenges faced by migrants in accessing public policies, particularly in education and the labor market, revealing how structural difficulties and symbolic barriers impact their integration process and the exercise of their rights. The analysis concludes that understanding migration requires a multidimensional approach that considers both the structural conditions of the countries of origin and destination, as well as the agency and resilience strategies of the migrants themselves in building their new lives.
