Abstract

This study aims to reflect on the contributions of Hans Jonas' philosophy regarding the environment, especially regarding climate change. Based on the work “The Ethics of Responsibility: An Essay on an Ethics for Technological Civilization”, the aim is to respond to possible considerations that could be made based on philosophy – specifically Jonas' philosophy – as a response to current climate appeals, based on the work “The Ethics of Responsibility: An Essay on an Ethics for Technological Civilization”. Initially, the concept of climate change and its expression in the Brazilian context are discussed, as well as the agents involved in mitigating climate effects. Next, Jonas' ethical proposal is examined, centered on intergenerational responsibility and the relationship between technology and ethics. The research, of a bibliographic nature, proposes a critical reflection on the need for ethical action in the face of the global environmental threat.
